Viewpoint: Impacting the lives of women experiencing multiple disadvantage
Sarah, Senior Innovation and Evaluation Coordinator, Fulfilling Lives (Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham)
I am passionate about the work we are doing around improving access to services for women involved in street-based sex work because the system has consistently failed these women for so long and so many times. I hope that this project will impact the lives of individual women experiencing multiple disadvantage, and we will capture the learning and data that can be used to influence change at a commissioner level. The project is taking a lot of planning because, whilst we have lots of evidence about what doesn’t work, there is less evidence about what does work and so we are developing our ideas and valued input from those with lived experience and other services.
I was really excited about our recent publication in response to the Sexual Exploitation Bill because it was developed alongside two fantastic women with lived experience. It really felt like we were bringing together our different expertise to produce something really powerful. I hope it gets taken notice of by decision-makers.
